Bridgend Schools Cross Country Champions 2023
A beautiful sunny morning. Not the usual cross-country weather, but very welcome for the final event of the year. As this was a fun event, no placings were taken for the children. Instead, there were two races for each age category. One of the races was for children who finished in the top ten, and the other race was for all children who had finished outside the top ten. In her Year 3 & 4 race, Sofie C won a silver medal. Well deserved, as Sofie has attended all the events and placed consistently. Great effort Sofie!
In the Year 5 & 6 girls, Eloise W-J almost won her race, finishing with a silver medal. Another impressive run from Eloise, carrying on her form from the previous race at Pencoed.
In the Year 5 & 6 boys’ race, Daniel M won a bronze medal. Daniel and Eloise have been real stars this year, competing against children who are a year older than them.
After the races, the Rotary Club of Bridgend presented medals and trophies to this season’s top runners and schools.
In the Year 5 & 6 boys, Daniel M finished in 3rd place overall. A tremendous result as he was competing against two very strong runners a year older than him.
Our Year 3 & 4 boys’ team finished in second place behind an impressive team from Oldcastle Primary. Wonderful effort from the boys! They have shown great enthusiasm and work ethic to improve in every race.
And finally, our star performers were the Year 3 & 4 girls, who WON the overall competition. BRIDGEND SCHOOLS’ CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONS 2023! They have been extremely consistent this year. Congratulations to all the girls who have taken part.
