Delight for St Clare’s School as students embark on the next chapter of their educational journey.

 

Sixth Form students at St Clare’s, Porthcawl are celebrating the school’s track record for outstanding results at A-Level, having achieved an outstanding 68% A*/B grades. Students are leaving St Clare’s to embark upon exciting futures at the best universities such as the Russell Group or to start competitive apprenticeships at Deloitte.

 

St Clare’s has been in the top 5% of top performing A-Level schools in the UK since 2018 and anticipates this to be the same this year. The 2023 A-Level grades build on the excellent results seen in previous years with St Clare’s achieving a clean sweep of 100% pass rate across all subjects, highlighting the school’s strength in both academic and creative fields.

 

As always, we are delighted with the performance of our students and they will be proud of what they have accomplished. Macy Campbell, Daniel Lucas, Carolina Marques, Issy Summers and Niamh Hill were amongst the high-achievers celebrating today.

 

Macy secured A*A*A in English Literature, Geography and History, coming all the way from America. Macy has accepted a place at Birmingham to read Palaeontology. Macy joined St Clare’s in Year 10 and said, “St Clare’s is a small school, so your teachers can get to know you very well- it’s that continuity, not just with my teachers but also with my friends that made me want to continue here for sixth form. I love the day-to-day life at St Clare’s.”

 

Daniel secured A*A*A in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and has accepted a place at Bristol to read Biomed with the aspiration to become a doctor. Daniel said, “My Sixth Form experience has been amazing. With the smaller classes, St Clare’s has offered me so much support and guidance where the teachers go above and beyond, especially when it comes to UCAS applications and interviews when applying for medicine.”

 

Carolina secured A*A* A in Spanish, French and English Literature and secured her first-choice university, Exeter, to do the prestigious Maitrise en Droit degree (English Law and French Law) and plans to become a solicitor. Carolina has been at St Clare’s since Year 6 and said, “There is a lot of extra help from the teachers- after completing my GCSEs, I knew the teachers could help provide me with their brilliant support through my A-Levels as well.”

 

Issy, who joined St Clare’s for Sixth Form, secured A* A A in Textiles, Fine Art and Graphics and has accepted a place at Bath Spa to do a degree in Textiles Design for Fashion & Interiors.

 

Niamh also secured A* A A in Textiles, Fine Art and Graphics and has accepted a place at university of Wales Trinity St David. Niamh said, “If I had to sum up my Sixth Form experience in three words, it would be fun, stressful and exciting!”

 

Headteacher, Helen Hier, said,

“We are immensely proud of all the achievements of our students, and we wish them every success as they take the next step in their educational journey. They have truly lived out all the school values of Achievement, Challenge and Excellence, and we wish them the very best in their onward studies, training and employment.  Their success is testament to the close-knit community here at St Clare’s with dedicated students and hard-working staff. It is such a pleasure to celebrate with them all today!”
