At St Clare's we aim to provide pupils with a long-lasting love of learning.
With a long tradition of providing exceptional education for almost 85 years, we offer academic challenge and rigour to all our pupils within a supportive and caring community.
Our curricular and extra-curricular opportunities ensure that pupils are encouraged to think beyond the normal demands of subject material. At St Clare's, we pride ourselves on inspiring children to achieve excellence.

We place great emphasis on practical learning and problem solving, encouraging pupils to be inquisitive, exploring topics to gain greater understanding and to think for themselves.
Bringing lessons to life.
Topics are brought to life through inspirational teaching and extensive co-curricular programmes, such as our STEM club.
Whether it is a themed day, a visit or a workshop, physical experiences and curricular trips help to fire the imagination and add an extra dimension to classroom-based learning.
A dedicated teaching team.
The considered use of technology and specialist teachers in many areas support the stimulating and varied curriculum.
This specialism, combined with the best mix of traditional and innovative teaching methods, underpins an approach which drives accelerated progress.
Keeping pupils on track.
Staff are passionate about developing pupils' academic progress alongside their well-being, and are committed to carefully monitoring the pupil's journey as they progress through the school.
Every child will sit a baseline assessment at the beginning of the key stage. They will be tracked and monitored throughout the academic year based on this baseline assessment. For any pupils with additional learning needs, our ALNCo will assess and design appropriate provision in consultation with the pupil, teachers and parents. This is regularly reviewed to ensure the needs of pupils are constantly in focus.
Academic challenge.
We believe that pupils need to be stretched to realise their full potential. We want them to think and learn independently, to be curious and go beyond the classroom learning.
Every child is set an aspirational grade and a challenge grade, and this will be reported to you as parents. We will ensure that each child is challenged in order to try and achieve their aspirational grade. We treat every pupil as an individual and track every child’s progress. We challenge and stretch children in those subjects where they demonstrate higher ability and support in areas of the curriculum they find more difficult.
INDIVIDUALISED LEARNING
Our flexible approach to teaching helps bring out the potential in every child.
We understand and appreciate that children develop at different speeds and that’s why we focus on teaching each and every one of our pupils in the most effective way for them. At the heart of this approach is understanding where every child is on their educational journey.
We focus on the development of the individual which we measure, monitor and evaluate on a regular basis. The ethos here at St Clare's is to focus on understanding our pupils, their interests, and their needs to make sure that they have the support and encouragement required to help them shine.
STRETCH AND CHALLENGE
Be You Brilliantly!
At St Clare’s we believe that every pupil should be given the opportunity to excel in whatever they choose to do. We treat every pupil as an individual to ensure that their learning journey is tailored to get the very best for them. Our results speak for themselves but more than that, our pupils leave us equipped with the skills and character to “Be you, brilliantly.”
Every pupil we have the privilege of teaching is valued for their unique strengths, talents and abilities. All are equally supported and encouraged to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
Nurturing students for success
We create opportunity for all our pupils, wherever their talents lie – inside or outside of the classroom. All are challenged within their lessons and extra-curricular activities to reach and exceed their individual academic, sporting and creative potential.
Our More Able & Talented (“MAT”) Programme is geared towards stretching and challenging all pupils, and in particular the academically able. High potential learners are challenged in specific subjects, giving them the opportunity to access an optimal breadth and depth of learning; as such we aim to provide opportunities to develop specific skills and talents.
St Clare's Meets...
‘St Clare’s Meets…’ is a programme designed to provide specific MAT pupils with the opportunity to interview an individual who is an inspiring leader in their field of work or study.
Wherever possible, interviews will be recorded and turned into a visual podcast to be shared with other pupils, of all abilities, across the key stages.
