The first big step on their academic journey.
Combining a high-quality educational experience with an unparalleled level of care and support, our outstanding Reception class is the ideal way to ease your child into the exciting world of learning.
In the September after children turn 4 years old, they progress from Nursery into our Reception class. We always welcome new children to St Clare’s at this point. In the Reception class they still follow the new Early Years Curriculum and work towards the four Early Years Purposes, but we introduce a more structured school day.
St Clare's Reception school class offers a supportive and fun bridge between Nursery and the more formal educational experience enjoyed from Year 1. Years 1 and 2 are called ‘Key Stage One’ in the national curriculum and Years 3 to 6 are called ‘Key Stage Two’.

FACILITIES & LOCATION
Our facilities ensure a great learning experience.
Our children have a light and airy Reception classroom that is comfortable, well-equipped and imaginative, they also have access to the facilities used by the older pupils.
Set in 11 acres of magnificent grounds that include a Reception playground, the children’s education is enhanced by our stunning woodland space which is used for Forest School and as an outdoor classroom, providing the perfect place in which to develop a true appreciation for the natural world.
Our young pupils also appreciate the routine of morning breaktime, plus a healthy and nutritious lunch which is served in the dining hall by our excellent in-house catering team.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR & CLUBS
We broaden horizons beyond the classroom.
The children have access to numerous extra-curricular activities and school trips that are both fun and educational. School trips have ranged from a visit to the Fire Station, Cinema, Porthcawl RNLI, the Christmas pantomime and Meadow Green Farm.
Children can also choose to join a wide variety of clubs such as science, cookery, mindful colouring, fitness & multi skills and French.
Peripatetic LAMDA, ballet and singing are also available. When a little older, pupils will be able learn piano, guitar and drums, stretching their musical skills even further, should they choose.
