Vision & Values

St Clare's is a beautiful school both inside and out, it has an old soul but refuses to stand still.

From Nursery through to Sixth Form, our purpose is clear. Our strong curriculum, steadfast pastoral care and enriching extra-curricular programme enable us to provide pupils with the freedom and support to flourish independently.

Our approach is to teach each and every child in the most effective way for them; we call this individualised learning. At the heart of this approach is our ability to understand precisely where your child is on their learning journey.

In choosing St Clare’s as a school for your son or daughter you are ensuring that they are educated in a nurturing environment and will realise their full potential.

How we achieve our vision:

VISION

Setting the standard.

At St Clare's we believe that every child should thrive in their academic environment. We will always be small enough to carry deep and valuable knowledge about every pupil, yet large enough to create meaningful communities across our school.

St Clare’s provides a return to traditional values and standards in a modern setting. We believe good manners, high personal standards of dress and a culture of mutual respect and courtesy are extremely important.

Our specialist teachers and examiners help and challenge every child to realise their true potential. In being educated within a nurturing and progressive environment, our pupils understand that they can achieve their best self.

SCHOOL AIMS

Uncovering growth and potential in every child.

Our aims centre on developing our pupils to be responsible and balanced young citizens prepared for a world beyond school.

Our aims:

Our core values

Achievement

We never lose sight of the fact that our core purpose is to ensure our children’s holistic development and wellbeing. A happy child is a motivated child, and our pupils are nurtured as individuals according to their abilities, personality and potential.

St Clare's pupils are encouraged to appreciate and understand our world and its people – and celebrate their own achievements and those of others.

Challenge

Our experienced specialist teachers and examiners challenge every child to reach their 'aspirational grade', as determined through our baseline assessment process. This tailored approach allows the majority of our pupils to achieve results above and beyond their forecast grades.

Further, our sports, arts, enrichment and extra-curricular programmes encourage pupils to explore new skills and interests, building curiosity, confidence and character.

Excellence

Results at St Clare's speak for themselves. We are incredibly proud of our GCSE and A-Level performance.

Recent years have witnessed our GCSE pupils more than doubling the national average at Grade 9, while >75% of our A-Level results have attained Grade A or A*. We are exceptionally pleased to have been independently placed in the top 5% of A-Level providers in the UK since 2018, by the A-Level Performance System (ALPS).
The leadership seems to be very visible, clear on its expectations and standards but still nurturing which is a wonderful balance to have.
